Ninja Fruits Mobile Slot Review (Play'n Go)

In 2010 a video game came on a walkabout out of Australia called Fruit Ninja. It was not much more than a finger-controlled blade on the touchscreen slicing up fruit tossed onto the screen. By 2012 there were over 300 million downloads of Fruit Ninja and it was estimated to be on one in every three iPhones. It was Play’n Go who glommed on to the marriage of feudal Japanese mercenaries and juicy fruits first for a mobile slots game.

Ninja Fruits is a five-reel game with payouts on 15 paylines. There is no progressive jackpot but there are free games to be won and bonus rounds to be sliced and diced. You can set an Auto Play option for up to 30 continuous games. You can wager from 0.01 coins to 0.25 coins with a maximum bet of 0.75 coins per payline.

Theme

You have got your fruits and you have got your Ninjas but there is not a whole lot of juicing going on here. For the most part the pineapples and watermelons and strawberries that represent the minor symbols stay whole while spinning on the reels. The Ninjas are around and looking suitably menacing with their collections of sharpened metal but the power in this slots game belongs to neither the Ninjas nor the Fruits. It is the pink-robed Geisha and the wizened old Master who hold the keys to riches in Ninja Fruits.

Features

The Master oversees the comportment among the various Ninjas and the succulent Fruits. He is the Wild and will take the place of any of those other symbols at a moment’s notice. When a gaggle of five Masters appear the result is a 5000-coin giveaway to you.

The Geisha is on hand to provide a light touch to the militaristic destruction of fruit. When she inserts herself into the action three times it pays 5X the total bet and her twirling parasol means the Free Spins feature is triggered. There are no re-triggers and no multipliers but during the bonus an Extra Scatter is inserted into play for bigger wins.

The Shuriken symbol also activates a bonus round. You are off to a dojo for a little Ninja star throwing practice under the watchful eye of the diminutive Master. You toss your shurikens at fruits nicely arrayed on pedestals until you miss and the Master groans disapprovingly. Appropriately chastened, but considerably enriched, you depart the mojo back to the regular reels.

There is also a gamble feature where you can turn a recent win into twice as much or four times as much on a turn of the card to reveal its colour or suit. No Ninjas or Fruits involved.
